Questions, answered
Is it strong enough for my dog?
It's made for small dogs that walk nicely. There's no load rating for it, so it isn't for large dogs or dogs that pull hard or lunge. For those, a fixed lead is the better choice.
How does the brake work?
Press the button with your thumb to stop the tape at the current length, slide the lock to hold it, and release to let it wind back in.
Can I use it near roads?
Yes, with the tape locked short. Press the brake, slide the lock and keep your dog close by your side until you're back on a path or in the park. Keep your dog in sight on every walk.
Which length should I pick?
3 m (10 ft) suits town walks and pavements. 5 m (16 ft) gives more room in parks and open spaces.
Is it a tape or a cord?
It's a flat polyester tape, which is easier to see and less likely to tangle than a thin cord.
What if it doesn't suit my dog?
